Mod Subculture


Mod subculture were called as 'the modernists' was young, modern, cosmopolitan, cool, hip, streamlined and optimistic it defined in early to late 1960s. This subculture mainly influences by music and fashion. The Mod music was a mixture of Modern Jazz, R&B such as The Jam, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and etc. (Discover John Smedley, n.d.)

The most iconic Mod female Fashion are Mary Quant and Twiggy. The style of Mod female are short hair, mini skirt, men's trousers, H line dress, with pale foundation, lipstick and quirky eye makeup (Modyourspace.com, n.d.). For male Mod subculture are mainly Polo shirt, suits, thin ties, slim cut jeans, bold colour with plain socks, oxford shoes, peacoat and trench coats. Generally, Mod subculture was French and Italian style and enjoy riding their super flashy scooter or vespa (Hommes - Men's Fashion & Luxury Blog, 2013).
